Code Of Ethics

We, the members of the North Texas Rental Properties Association, recognizing our duty to the public and the intimate nature of the relation between the rental property resident, the owner, or the manager, and being aware of the vastly increasing role of the rental housing industry in providing the home of the future, and in order to provide the rental-residing public with the maximum in quality and service based upon the highest standards of honesty and integrity, do hereby bind ourselves, with the adoption of this Code of Ethics, with each and every member, together and alone, agreeing that, so long as we remain members of the North Texas Rental Properties Association, and so long as nothing contained herein shall be unlawful, we shall:

  1. Promote, employ and maintain a high standard of integrity in the establishment of rental rates and the performance of all other rental obligations and services in the operation of our rental properties.
  2. Maintain and operate our business in accordance with fair and honorable standards of competition, ever mindful of the purposes of the North Texas Rental Properties Association and in compliance with the Constitution and Bylaws thereof, and will not by personal contact, mailing, or otherwise, engage directly or indirectly, in any act of deceitful or trick advertising which would encourage or cause a prospective tenant to think they are being offered goods or services which are not being offered on the terms indicated.  False or misleading statements or gimmicks will not be used in the advertising of any member.
  3. Strive continually to promote the education and fraternity of the membership and to promote the progress and dignity of the rental property industry in creating a better image of itself in order that the public may be better served.
  4. Seek to provide better values, so that an even greater shard of the public may enjoy the many benefits of apartment and rental unit living.
  5. Establish high ethical standards of conduct with apartment rental agencies, suppliers, and others doing business with the rental property industry.
  6. Endeavor to expose all schemes to mislead or defraud the rental property residing public and to aid in the exposure of those responsible.

The power to interpret, administer, and enforce the provisions hereof shall be vested in a Committee composed of five (5) members who shall be appointed annually by the Board of Directors, with the power of suspension or expulsion, after hearing, of any member found violating same, or the spirit hereof.
